Brand Photography for Dental Practices

Branding shots showing dentists with their patients are key to getting a full brand library.

Dental Brand Photography in Toronto, Oakville, Burlington and Hamilton

When a dental office books a brand photography session, we want to create much more than a collection of headshots.

For this dental brand photography session, I photographed the dentist, hygienist and reception team, along with the office itself and the day-to-day interactions that make up the patient experience.

We covered a lot during the shoot, including individual headshots, group photos, stock-style images, details of the office and hands-on photos with clients.

The goal was to give the dental office a full library of images they can actually use across their website, social media, marketing materials and online profiles.

Headshots and Team Photos

We started with individual headshots for the team, as well as group photos.

I like keeping headshots professional but still relaxed. You want patients to see the people they are going to meet and get a sense of their personalities.

A dental office can feel intimidating to some people, so having friendly, approachable photos of the team is important.

These types of photos are especially useful for dental practices throughout Toronto, Oakville, Burlington and Hamilton, where patients often visit a practice website before deciding where to book an appointment.

Photos That Show the Office

We also photographed the space itself, along with some of the smaller details throughout the office.

These images are great for websites and social media because they help potential patients get familiar with the space before they come in.

We also created stock-style images that the office can use when they need a photo for a blog post, social media post, advertisement or other marketing piece.

I always try to photograph a variety of compositions during a brand photography session so the business has plenty of options to work with later.

Hands-On Photos With Clients

Some of my favourite images from a brand shoot are the ones that actually show the business in action.

For this dental office, we photographed the dentist and hygienist working with clients, along with some of the different steps involved in the patient experience.

These photos help show what actually happens when someone comes into the office.

Instead of relying on generic stock photography, the dental practice now has images that show their actual team, their actual office and the way they work with their clients.

Getting Lots of Content From One Shoot

One of the things I like most about brand photography is being able to build a whole collection of images in one session.

Rather than taking a few photos and calling it a day, we plan out the different types of images the business needs.

For this dental brand photography shoot, that included:

  • Individual headshots

  • Group team photos

  • Photos of the dentist and hygienist working with clients

  • Reception and team interactions

  • Office and environmental photos

  • Detail shots

  • Stock-style images for future marketing

  • A variety of horizontal and vertical images

Having all of these options means the dental office can keep using the photos in different ways over time.

Brand Photography That Feels Like Your Business

I don't think brand photography needs to feel overly posed or polished to the point where it doesn't look like the real business.

My goal is to create professional images while still letting the people and personality of the business come through.

For a dental office, that means showing the team, the space and the actual patient experience.

Whether I'm photographing a dental practice in Oakville, Burlington, Hamilton or Toronto, the approach is the same. We want the images to give potential patients a good idea of who they will be meeting, what the office looks like and what they can expect when they walk through the door.

That's what I want a good brand photography session to do. Give you a collection of photos that look like you, feel like you and are actually useful for your business.
