Brand & Product Photography for The Little K Company in Burlington

When a product is designed to make everyday family life easier, the photography should tell that story.

I recently had the opportunity to photograph The Little K Company, a Canadian brand creating thoughtfully designed, non-toxic lunch and mealtime products for growing families. Based in the Burlington area, Little K offers stainless steel lunch boxes, snack containers, lunch bags and mealtime essentials designed to make packing and enjoying kids’ meals easier.

For this brand photography session, the goal was to create a versatile collection of images that could be used across Little K’s website, social media, marketing materials and product launches — while showing both the products themselves and the lifestyle behind the brand.

Creating a Complete Visual Story for Little K

For a growing product-based business, having beautiful product images is important, but having a complete visual library is even more valuable.

For this shoot, we created a combination of:

  • Product photography to showcase the details, colours and functionality of the lunch products

  • Founder photography to put a face behind the brand and create a more personal connection with customers

  • Styled lifestyle photography featuring food and lunch setups

  • Brand photography designed to communicate Little K's warm, thoughtful and family-focused personality

This combination gives a brand much more flexibility than traditional product photography alone.

Little K's products are designed around practical family needs — from leak-resistant stainless steel lunch boxes to compartmentalized designs that make it easier to pack balanced meals.

The photography needed to communicate those benefits visually.

Product Photography That Shows the Details

Product photography is about more than simply photographing an object against a white background.

For Little K, it was important to capture the design details that make the products different — the compartments, finishes, colours, construction and thoughtful details that parents are looking for when choosing products for their children.

Clean product images give customers a clear understanding of what they're purchasing, while styled images help them imagine how the products fit into their everyday lives.

The result is a collection of images that can work across ecommerce product pages, website banners, email marketing, social media and advertising.

Bringing the Products to Life With Food Styling

One of my favourite parts of this shoot was creating styled images using real food.

Instead of photographing the lunch boxes as empty products, we filled them with colourful, kid-friendly foods to show how the different compartments can actually be used.

This type of lifestyle product photography adds context and helps transform a product image into a story.

A lunch box becomes more than a lunch box — it becomes the packed lunch waiting for a child on a school morning.

Little K's five-compartment Medley lunch box, for example, is designed to keep different foods separated while making balanced lunches easier to pack.

That functionality was something we wanted the imagery to communicate immediately.

Putting a Face Behind the Brand

We also captured portraits of Little K's founder, Kat.

Founder photography is an important part of modern brand photography because customers increasingly want to know the people and stories behind the businesses they support.

Little K's story began with a very personal parenting challenge. After struggling to find a durable, practical alternative to plastic lunch containers for her daughter, Kat developed a better solution — eventually leading to the launch of The Little K Company in 2022.

Capturing the founder alongside the products creates a stronger visual connection between the person, the story and the brand.

These images can be used for an About page, media features, social media, newsletters, speaking opportunities and future marketing campaigns.

Why Brand Photography Matters for Product-Based Businesses

For ecommerce brands, having a library of professional images can make a significant difference in how a business presents itself online.

A strong brand photography session can provide images for:

Website: Product pages, About pages, homepage banners and landing pages.

Social media: Instagram posts, Reels covers, Pinterest and other social content.

Marketing: Email campaigns, digital advertising, product launches and promotions.

PR: Media releases, founder features and publications.

Sales: Retail presentations, wholesale materials and promotional campaigns.

Instead of booking separate shoots every time new marketing content is needed, a thoughtfully planned session can create a large collection of versatile images that a business can continue using throughout the year.

Brand & Product Photography in Burlington

As a Burlington brand photographer and product photographer, I love working with businesses that have a strong story behind what they create.

Whether you're launching a new product, refreshing your website, building an ecommerce brand or simply realizing that your existing imagery no longer reflects the quality of your business, professional photography can give your brand a much stronger visual presence.

For product-based businesses, I can create a combination of product photography, lifestyle photography, founder portraits and brand photography so you have a cohesive library of images to use across your entire marketing ecosystem.

The Little K shoot was a great example of how these different types of photography can work together — creating images that showcase the products while also communicating the people, purpose and lifestyle behind the brand.

If you're looking for brand photography in Burlington, product photography in Burlington, or commercial photography in the GTA, I'd love to help create a visual library that feels authentically yours.
